LA GRANDE, Ore. (EOU) - Students already enrolled and/or admitted to Eastern Oregon University will be able to work with the school to cover the shortfalls in their Oregon Opportunity Grants.
On January 9, students were informed that the overwhelmed Oregon Opportunity Grant program would not be able to meet all of their financial need. An additional reduction was also announced several weeks ago.
"Our collective first thought was about how we could help students," said EOU President Dixie Lund. "Working with enrollment services, financial aid and other offices, we are confident that students will be covered."
The university has implemented the Eastern Oregon Opportunity Award to assist students who were adversely affected by the change in state funding. The amount of the Eastern Oregon Opportunity Award will, in most cases, replace the amount that would have been awarded to students by the Oregon Opportunity Grant for winter and spring term 2009. Awards range from $266 to $2,100 and fee remissions are the funding source.
Students participating in the Oregon Opportunity Grant at EOU should be receiving information on the shortfall, and those with questions are encouraged to contact the Financial Aid Office at (541) 962-3550 or e-mail fao@eou.edu.
