ONTARIO, Ore. (EOU) - A new Saturday Science Program in Ontario aims to teach children the wonders of chemistry. The free program, "Having a Ball with Science," will help students in grades six through eight learn how chemistry impacts sports through fun and interactive activities.
The program will be held at Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Barber Hall. Lunch will be provided and pre-registration is required by Friday, Nov. 7.
Students from the EOU Chemistry Club will lead participants through a series of safe and fun science activities and perform a magic show at the conclusion of the program.
EOU admissions staff will also present a parents session and share information about academic options and opportunities, admissions and financial aid, studying abroad, athletics, university support systems and the importance of living on campus. Parents are invited to attend this 30-minute session to meet college and university staff and ask questions about how to prepare their children for a successful college experience.
For more information and to pre-register, contact Michelle Rosales, director of EOU's Malheur County Center, or Lily Herby at (541) 889-7468.
EOU, the American Chemical Society and Treasure Valley Community College are sponsoring the Saturday Science Program.
